Up for sale is an authentic and VERY OLD Wisconsin "NOT FOR HIRE" truck license plate, expired and retired from use.
It was issued in 1937 making this rare vintage license plate ALMOST 80 YEARS OLD!!! From what I learned, this plate was issued to a private operated truck for deliveries, and wasn't able to be hired by just anyone.
For its age this plate is in EXCELLENT CONDITION and sits virtually flat! This early style plate is not the same size as ones that are issued today. It measures 10 x 4 1/4 inches. The horizontal hole span measures 8 13/16 inches.
The border and lettering used on the plate is embossed, raised up from the surface of the plate. It saw many years in service, and it shows by having natural patina. Alot of its original color still shows on the front and back. Of the five vintage Wisconsin license plates I listed, this one is by far in the best condition!

This would be a great addition to any license plate enthusiast's collection, to decorate a barn or man cave!
